Copyrights
All works of original expression are protected by copyright law as soon as the work is permanently recorded in a tangible medium.
There are nine general categories of protection:
- Literary works
- Musical works
- Dramatic works
- Choreographic works
- Graphic works
- Audio visual works
- Sound recordings
- Architectural works
- Computer programs

Besides these categories, the law protects any “original works of authorship” fixed in a tangible medium. 17 U.S.C.A. Sec. 102(a)
Why register your copyright?
You cannot bring suit against infringers unless you register your copyright. Registration allows you to recover attorneys’ fees and statutory damages for infringement of your work. 17 U.S.C.A. Secs. 411, 412.
